The park, now known as Lazy 5 Regional Park, was originally home to a ranch by the same name. This park provides several options for a vast assortment of different types of recreational pursuits. The surrounding desert terrain is broken up by patches of lush green grass and several trees that may be found on the facility grounds. Lazy 5 Park is administered by Washoe County’s Regional Parks and Open Space Division. 

Both admission and parking are free of charge. Get in touch with the park ranger if you have any questions. The Spanish Springs location of the Washoe County Library may be entered through the same entrance as the Lazy 5 Regional Park, conveniently located right next door.

Lazy 5 Hosts a Variety of Activities

The Lazy 5 Regional park offers various attractions, opportunities, and entertainment, some of which are listed below.

Summer Music Series With Live Bands & Entertainment

One of the things that may be done at Lazy 5 Park is to attend the Summer Music Series, which takes place every Wednesday from June through August and includes a different local band. The general public can participate for no charge.

The Melio Gaspari Water Play Park

The Melio Gaspari Water Play Park is one of the few amenities of its kind that can be found in any of the parks in the Reno and Sparks area. It is a perfect place to take the kids (or grandkids) to go for fantastic fun on a hot day because multiple water features spray, splash, and dump water in various ways. 

There are shady picnic tables and grassy areas where you can lay out a blanket. There is a $3 entry fee. However, people 62 and above as well as children under 2 get in free. During the warm weather months, the store is open from 10 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon every day.

The Colony

This dome-shaped structure spans 5,000 square feet. At one time, it intended to house sand and salt for use on roadways. Its previous function was changed so that it can now operate as a public recreation facility. Additionally, the Hive has a regulation-sized basketball court and can accommodate two pickleball courts. 

At this time, members of the general public are welcome to visit during open gym hours. The Hive is a venue that may be rented out for various purposes, including as a private party venue, a venue for athletic events, a venue for concerts or shows, an educational facility, and other special occasions.

Finding Your Way to Lazy 5 Regional Park

Spanish Springs, Nevada’s Lazy 5 Park, can be found at 7100 Pyramid Way, also known as the Pyramid Highway. Spanish Springs is located in the city of Sparks. Pyramid Way, also known as Nevada 445, starts at Victorian Square in Sparks, adjacent to Interstate 80. The Lazy 5 sits approximately 10 miles to the north with access continuing on Pyramid Way. 

Taking Sparks Boulevard to its intersection with Pyramid Way and then turning right for a little way until you go to the park will get you to the park a little further away but will get you out of some of the more congested traffic. When you are getting close to the turnoff, you will see a large tower in the shape of a pyramid that houses the Spanish Springs Library. Also, the traveling distance between Wonder Web Development and Lazy 5 Regional Park equates to only 5.5 miles. In other words, less than 10 minutes away as long as you know the back roads.

Lazy 5 is One of the Best Parks in Sparks, Nevada

Lazy 5 Regional Park is always clean and tidy. Two playgrounds and a splash park provide enough entertainment for youngsters. The second playground is somewhat out of the way; to reach it, you must first drive past the main area via the parking lot until it seems as if you are leaving, and only then will you notice another parking space and the playground.

In other words, the park offers a beautiful setting for some outside time! Plenty of room to run about, play games, and use the jungle gym equipment for the little ones. This place is stunning.
